A Moment Alone

Mission: Season 2; Mission 2: It's Only Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt
Location: City-Ship; Residential Section; Some Abandoned Apartment
Timeline: October 20th 4566; Morning (Right after everyone chilling in the lounge but before the lounge attack)

After Kess left Remi turn off the light and just hid in the room once more. She honestly considered logging into one of her games and just staying in there for a few days but knew that that wouldn’t solve much of anything. Truthfully she was starting to wonder if this place being such a death trap, everyone being so against her doing what she’s doing and her father finally appearing especially following her operation that maybe these things were having a negative impact on her overall emotional state... because she usually wasn’t this emo but right now it just felt like she needed to hide.


Aidan goes to the lounge, getting an extra large coffee with two breakfast burgers and a special fried rice omelette. Polishing off the omlette he read the action reports and saw the incident with the bug. It had ended with no causalties, always the goal, but he saw that Sumire had rescued Nik. Why was she out there? He tried the com and got no response. He tried her VX and had a simiar reaction. "Computer locate Sumire Rembrant."

The system informs him that she is in the residential district in one of the less used apartment buildings in an apartment that was currently vacant.

Aidan got out and walked. He stuffed the second burger in it's wrapper and ordered hot chocolate to go. The walk allowed him to  think things through. It didn't take him very long to arrive at the apartment. He actually knocked. Manners were still a thing. "Sumire, it's Aidan. I'm coming in."(edited)

She didn’t stop him from entering. She was barely visible in the darkness sitting against the wall with her hoodie covering her face. She had a flask sitting next to her that was also barely visible. “ so did you know the prodigal son returns... Kessler came back... fucking fabulous time... just like everything else in this fucking place.”
She sounded super bitter.

"Glad to see you too." He sat down unceremoniously next to her. He handed her the hot chocolate. "Drink this."

She takes the drink in both hands. It was warm. She began to drink. The warmth and comfort the drink provided caused her to actually start to cry.

Aidan without thought put his arm up and over Sumire's body and pulled her into his shoulder. The alcohol was strong, he ignored it as much as possible. Crying women sucked. It was something he'd never get used to, but he did have a plan. Just be there.  "I'm just glad you are okay.  Growing quite fond of you Miss Rembrant."(edited)

“... this place sucks... Besides certain people it’s just all the same... your friends leave, lovers fuck off completely and then return like nothing happened... expecting you to just welcome them back into your arms... then... everything else... between all the lectures, my body not working and everyone whining for my help... it’s so stupid...” she said setting down the cup so that he didn’t spill it on the both of them as he pulled her into him she put her arms around him lowering her hood.(edited)

He let her have her moment. "You're a bit old for hide and seek Sumire. This place can suck. You have to find the golden threads where they are."


“ i’m not trying to play hide and seek… Sometimes I just want people to leave me alone... present company, Erin and Selphi excluded... I just want people to stop being so fucking clueless... being an asshole doesn’t make me like you more... apparently some people are too stupid to understand that.”

"Well considering this is the second time I had to come find you, I beg to differ. Not that I am complaining much, I think you're totally worth chase." He pulled out the second burger and offered it to her first.

She took the food thankfully and opened its wrapping starting to eat. In between bites she spoke. “ sorry about making you search for me... but like... OK fine... Nik and I made up; so I thought... not like I intended for him to be a boyfriend or anything... friends and all... been seeing his girlfriend just magically reappeared and... well... I don’t think I was ready to see PDAs between them... Plus before that the whole fucker scientist asshole and he’s like just abducting me and then everyone bitching about having to save the fucking princess... it’s... I’m livid... i’m not the goddamn damsel in distress! I want to find the guy and beat his fucking lights in! I’m not helpless but my body won’t work fast enough... it’s so... aggravating...”(edited)

"That I can empathize with. How do you think I feel? Watching the woman I am falling for be taken away and there isn't a thing I can do about it. This is a recurring theme, and I get scared knowing that if I do catch them, I may not be able to stop myself from doing something that will get sent up for war crimes." Aidan said.(edited)

“ at least in that regard my father could make it disappeared… The Federation Senate isn’t too keen on pissing off the ODM... let’s just say a battle with our military would be bloody for both sides. Not that starting a war over something so trivial is a good idea but know that if you ended up in a problem I would protect you. I want to be able to go back out to the field but I feel like... I’m just going to be stuck at a desk now... that on top of my love life on top of everyone wanting me to help them on top of people just being stupid… It’s a bit much especially when the people I confide in keep disappearing... I want to talk to people... I can’t do that if they keep running away...” She returns to eating.

"and yet....here I remain." Aidan said with finality.

She simply nods. Her tears stopped a while ago and she finishes the sandwich returning to the cup finishing off its warm chocolatey goodness.

He didn't voice that when he spoke of him being there for her, Sumire's response was...warm. "I can train you. I know I feel like a lumpy mattress, but I can get your strength back. Plus, we can cheat. Wear your layer 1 skin suit. Easy to make a few more. That will have you twice your normal strength. For personal experience...healing takes time. You didn't know me when I was old. I had all the scars from surgery, stab wounds, and shrapnel, as well as normal bullet wounds." Aidan said. "You have to be a but patient. Not my strong suit usually. I suspect you have that trait as well."

“ I get healing takes time but it’s just annoying… As for the suit… Well I mean sure like I have nothing to lose… I’m supposed to work with one of the physical therapists though I imagine that will be murder we could probably do some strength training or something. I like the two of us in bed but I also like the two of us here like this… If someone were to educated they might actually assume we were on a date...” she said as she smirked at him

"Nope. You aren't robbing me of the pleasure of your company that easlly. I promised you a date. That means being seen in public usuallly. Have a breath mint. " He said, taking one for himself and crunching it."(edited)

“ or I could just take yours...” she said coyly as she kissed him and extracted his mint from his mouth. She laughed smirking. After she finished his mint she said “ yeah I know what a date is... I know what play and pleasure is too...” she said.

Enjoying the kiss, is was instinctual to wrap his arms around her. He could taste the liquor though. Thankfully the mint took care of most of it. When the kiss broke, he didn't bother to let her go. "I'm liking the black, but then again, I haven't seen a color on you I don't like.

“I like your colors too...” she replied to him as he didn’t let go. She continued to keep her arms around him as well and continue to kiss him after taking another mint putting it in her mouth and starting to make out with him.

"Those other idiots don't deserve you." Aidan said honestly. I am sorry they don't know how to treat someone right. I would not want to be the cause of you pain, but if I can be a bit selfish. Their loss, my gain." He said, holding her tighter.

She resumes her make out session. Hearing him speak between the kisses and feeling him hold her tighter just made her enjoy him that much more. She was grateful that he was so nice and good at what he did. She was happy that she found him and happy that she had someone she could rely on. She holds him tighter as well.

"I'd be happy to hold you, though if you wanted more, I would be happy to oblige." he said as he gazed deeply into her blue eyes.

She held him more kissing him. She didn’t need to make her intentions known apparently. She just held him like this loving the warmth and their closeness. She didn’t feel like she needed to drink anymore.

"The other night in the Net, you offered to leave me if I wanted to be with Yuka. I did, but that showed a maturity that I appreciate. " Aidan said between kisses.


“ it’s like I said from day one… I do this because I care about people I’m with and I want to be what they need... if that means them not being with me... as long as they’re honest about it and willing to still be there for me emotionally... more power to them... that’s why I didn’t scream at Nik earlier... he proved he will be there for me and even though I didn’t like seeing him kiss someone i’ll just have to get past because he’s been what I need and I need to be what he needs; right now that means being a friend... for you; you want me to be your lover... so I will do that... and you be my lover and friend... boyfriend.”


"and if I want you so much you're my oxygen?" Aidan asked.


“Then take all of me inside yourself.” She said kissing him.


"Already there. Why do you think I keep coming after you? " Aidan said, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. He pulled the hoodie down. "I need the full view, btw."


“Um... let’s go do that date... I think we both need that right now.”


"You keep kissing me, that's not all I'm going to need right now. First, we need to change. You, my pleasant and affectionate lover, need a shower and toothbrush." Aidan offered.


Remi stopped kissing him and laughed. "Oh... its already more than what you need... and... considering last night and this morning... I do need a shower and something more normal... hoodies are great but not for a date. "
