Mission: Season 2; Mission 2: It's Only Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt
Location: Onyx Cityship; Shuttlebay/Medical
Timeline: November 13th 4566 Morning

A shuttle landed in the cityships main dock control area. Operations met the shuttle. Ari exited. One of the dock officials was also there and even though he knew who she was standard protocol. "Name and purpose of visit?" "Captain Eirin Mizriki with new orders for Team One and a personnel transfer." The officer nodded. "Thank you Captain." he saluted her and then moved on since she was military he required nothing else from her. The blue haired timid woman exited the shuttle with her bag following Ari. The operations officer saluted the tow of them and then took to his check of the shuttle. Ari waited for the woman to catch up. She did not have a bag with her because she knew operations would handle getting her things back to the Lavie. She had kept in correspondence with Sarissa via email and video call and Remi over VR and VX Text. The blue haired girl was staring around herself seemingly beside herself at the size of this place. Ari just grabbed her by her wrist. "C'mon Lieutenant...." She dragged the woman with her to medical.

Sarissa ran her hand under the warmer she kept nearby. Making a mental note to increase the thickness and thermal insulative value of her clothing, she saw the VX from Captain Mizriki. Walking to the replicator, she ordered a large red leaf tea with a small amount of cream.

As Ari dragged in her blue haired companion into medical she looked around searching for Sarissa nearly dragging the new MD by the back of her collar in search of the chief of medical and her partner.

Sarissa had her hands wrapped around the mug, savoring the warmth. She felt Ari drawing nearer. "Calm yourself little one." She spoke to her mind. "Do not make me treat a wound on the new physician."

Ari replied back telepathically with endearment. It had been some time since they actually saw each other in the flesh; she had heard Sarissa was pregnant and the two had briefly communicated about it but not much else was said. Ari was still interested in meeting her human male partner as she would be just as honored to carry his offspring as well. She wouldn't mind the three of them becoming one though that might be a bit odd. She released the new doctor and finally found Sarissa. "This is Lt. Natsumi Yamane... Yamane... This is Sarissa Slane; chief medical officer for the service." Ari said remaining professional though she really did just want to hub Sarissa and engage in multiple activities from catching up to showing her that she missed her in more ways than one. She calmed those emotions for now as that would be something for later.

"I've read your file. Your records indicate multiple disciplines. A general practioner like myself is always welcome. Plus something we always have a stronger need for is the mental health of the crew. A sore lack personnel in that discipline here. This is the cityship Hospital but we have a few satellite clinics and of course sickbays on the ships. Where are you going to be stationed?" Sarissa asked but was looking at Ari.

Natsumi observed the woman taking a moment to respond after she was done giving her a salute but unsure if that was right she finally bowed as her culture had taught her "According to... command I will be on the DFS Lavie sir." She said plainly trying to be as official as possible as if she were machinelike.

Ari observed the two of them one in each eye. "Yamane... you can act freely you know." "Protocol" "Look... most of the folks here are friends or have been brought so close by recent events that they might as well be... You don't need to be a board." She was still being emotionally contained while giving the new doctor advice.

"Yamane. An interesting name. Japanese. " Shifting gears Sarissa offered, "The Lavie is fully equipped though it's easier to do things here. I suggest you take a trip and familiarize yourself with the layout. NIklas Blom is there and he can help you. An intern working on his doctorate. Do you have any questions? This isn't an interview."

"No Dr. Slane; I will get to sorting myself then head over there right away." Natsumi said still almost robotic in nature; internally she was frightened.

"Ari. I would like a minute alone with the Doctor please." Sarissa offered. She never used the word please.

Ari nodded. "Yep; I'm gunna go grab a coffee from the amazing cart down the way anyway..." Ari winked and then headed off leaving the two alone.

"Is there something I should know about?" Sarissa asked the young woman. "You can call me by my first name Sarissa.  We are alone."

Natsumi shakes her head no. "I just... I am not that good with new people. It is... different when I am working... but... I... I just; trust issues." She said trying to limit her words.

"Since I am old enough to be your grandmother, I will offer you a small piece of advice I know Ari would say to you. Screw what people think. The only concern I have is the quality of your work and in turn the quality of care we, you and I give to the crew. From your records, I do not think there will be a problem, but I want to be clear." Sarissa paused as much for effect as to have some hot tea.

"Timid in private is one thing. This is a ship of hardened combat veterans. Sometimes they need a velvet touch and sometimes the steel fist inside that same velvet glove. I cannot have a timid doctor. Caring, sympathetic, attentive.....never timid." Sarissa said, watching the new doctor intently.

"If you are asking if my personality will get in the way of my work; it will not. I may be skittish in my personal life but peoples lives depend on my skills as a physician ." natsumi replied to her.

"I am asking. I am to be as much your boss as your coworker and we depend on each other. Have you ever slapped a Vulcan out of a healing trance?" Sarissa asked.

"Out of a... what... No... never... I... um..." Natsumi looked sort of sad as if she knew that was not the response Sarissa wanted but she really did not know how to respond to such a question.

A small smile barely showed on a Sarissa. "We will not discuss your timidity further unless we have too. Fair?"  Sarissa asked.

Natsumi nodded to her unsure of what would happen next.

"Welcome aboard. As for my question, Vulcans have a healing trance they go into. When they awaken, they have to fight their way to complete consciousness. Do not be afraid if one asks you to do it. "

Natsumi nods. "Thank you doctor."

"You're welcome Natsumi. "

With that she turned and headed out of the door thinking she was no longer needed passing by Ari whom had a coffee. Ari just observed the doctor as she walks away.

Sarissa drained her tea. She recycled it sat doing paperwork.

Ari walks in "Honey; I'm home!" Ari said as she entered the office that Sarissa was in.

"I never understood that word before the meld. Why you one wish to be called bee vomit?" Sarissa asked.

"... it is like saying sweetheart; its an endearing term or so I am told... plus it is sweet... sweets to humans are a good thing; thus calling someone you love that should be seen was sweet... you know prior to us becoming one... I also neve would have with a straight face explained that definition."

"It is quite agreeable to see you again." Sarissa offered.

Ari nodded as she sat her coffee down and walked over to her but didn't touch her as they were in a windowed room; though people could not hear they could see inside. "I too am happy to see you again Sarissa. So when do I get to meet your human male?" She asked.

"He is on Earth II assisting with efforts there. The timing of our combat during Earth's destruction did not leave time for you to to get acquianted." Sarissa offered.

"I see... I do believe we have other things to do so I will leave you to your work but would you agree to dinner with me tonight?" She asked.

"At this range, it is effortless to sense your thinking, especially as you broadcast it so freely. Your wanton nature is on display Little one. " She moved a little closer standing in front of Ari. "Wild horses, I believe is the appropriate answer."
