Mission: Season 2; Mission 2: It's Only Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt
Location: Providence training gym
Timeline: tbd

In the training gym aboard the Providence, Aidan a table full of weapons. He didn't like that even with Sigmund help the sheer amount of paperwork and working out the details was taking it's toll on his pschye. While he didn't feel fat, he did think that it was becoming harder to find the time to get the workout he wanted.

He was sparring with a holographic opponent, controlled by Sigmund. The long swords clashed and banged into each other. Aidan was sweating.

Ellen boarded the Providence getting Aidan's location from some AI or another. Ellen didn't know his location as she moved down to the training room.

Sigmund guided her to the room Aidan was in. "He is in the middle of a training session, but advised me to let you in." She nodded and entered the room not saying a word, and watching the action.

The pair danced and parried. Finally Aidan saw an opening, the Grosse Messer hit the man's left side cutting nearly to the belly button. The enemy disappeared. He sheathed the sword, and walked to the table. "Been waiting long?" Aidan asked while grabbing a towel and water bottle.

"not that long." she said in reply she looked at the table "Practice with a few weapons I see."

Aidan nodded as he made most of that water bottle disappear. "I like to keep my edge sharp, no pun intended. So swords, big and small, and of course, my pistols and other sidearms. What's your preference?" he asked.

"Hand to hand but I am trained in small arms and some nonlethal defense weapons like a taser."

"Considering the class and size of the enemies we go up against, I think we need to up your game. No offense." Aidan said honestly.

"And what sorta enemies do you normally go up against."

"Lately, bugs. Spiders, and other odd insects, big enough to tear someone apart. Android animals. Of course other more normal enemies. So we supplement our blades and sidearms with gems. You familiar with that?" Aidan asked.

"I have used them in the past, I am not sure if they are common for Civilians or not."

"The trick is to channel your mind as well as your physical self into the attack. A bit daunting at first, but with practice, not hard. Sig, bring up two random bugs, stationary, for target practice. " Two bugs appeared. A massive spider and more normal multi-legged creature.

Aidan watched her for a reaction as he moved to pick up the gem studded pistol.

Ellen looked at the table to see what sorta items were presented there.  Aidan's 39" Grosse Messer bastard sword. Also a 15" Kukri knife Kbars and two service pistols. She grabbed the service pistol from the table and did a quick double tap. Aiming for the giant spider in its large bulb, and the other closer to the head.

The spider takes some damage, it's fluids spilling on the flooring. The second bug shot in the head is killed instantly and disappears.

"Not bad at all. You seem to know you way around pistols." Aidan pulls he own pistol and channels his thoughts to the yellow gem in the pistol grip panel.  The first shot hit slightly off center the second hitting near the spider's core. It bursts into flames, wriggling around, then disappears.

"as I said I am trained in small arms, is there anything more you want to know sir?"

"What about blades, large and small. More importantly, power armor." Aidan asked.

"No training in power armor and I do have training with blades if rudimentary."

"We'll get you a skin suit. It's the basic layer of a normal set of power armor. Yours will be thin enough that you can wear it under normal clothing. You can still be shot or stabbed, but it will increase your normal strength about double."

He picked up the kukri knife and handed it to her.

She takes it "a bushwhacker?" she asks questioningly

"Sometimes we get so close that guns are less effective. I'd like to know you have some knife skills. Plus once we get you a bit up to speed on gems, this 'bushwhacker' can be more effective that you realize." Calling out to Sigmund, he said. "Sig, make a few normal enemies, let's say FSF officers. I also want another kukri with yellow gems." The blade appeared at the same time. Since he hadn't specified stationary, these were moving to attack. "Look alive there Hayes. We have company." Aidan said

She is going to throw the kukri hard at the first enemy the closer one if possible.

The thrown weapon bounces off the enemy and clatters to the ground. "Pause sim." The enemies froze. "Um...no. The kukri isn't balanced. It is long enough that you should be able to keep more distance than if they have a dagger."

She grumbles a bit "can I not just use a normal knife?"

"Fair enough. Ask Sig to make you one. I'll stick with this. He said

She'll just lift up her leg for the traditional hidden boot knife cliche

"Whenever you're ready."

"I guess I am." she says having her knife out

"Resume." Aidan said.

The enemies go after Aidan. He easily sidestepped the fumbling attack. He counters with his own attack. The enemy dodges.

Ellen thrusted her dagger towards the enemy, it just missed the side.
The FSF dagger punched it's way past Ellen's defenses. The blade drove itself to the hilt. Ellen favored that side as she back off a bit.

Sigmund must have been controlling the enemies as they dodged his next attack as well.

Ellen grabbed the nearest holo enemy by the neck lifting the holo enemy up, the holo knife wound still in her side and with a single grunt she slams the man down like a professional wrestler putting all of her strength into it if he were a real opponent he might of been seriously injured.

The enemy disappears leaving the remaining standing enemy who thrusts towards Aidan. Aidan sidestepped and countered by swinging the kukri hard enough that the man's head was nearly severed. Aidan and Ellen were alone again.

"Lessons learned from today?" He said with a smile towards Ellen

"Sometimes Miss Sumire will be assaulted by Giant spiders and the like?"

Aidan laughed out loud. "Something like that. I would say, hope for the best, expect the worst." He drained another water, offering one to Ellen. "We've been trapped a few times before, so take everything you can. I can also show you how to outfit your VX, assuming you have one, and not the civilian version, so that you can have a few things with you so to speak.' He pressed a button and changed into different shorts and tee shirt.

"Perhaps another time I have somethings I must take care of before my next shift."

"Fair enough. Good sparring with you Miss Hayes. It's nice to me someone I don't have to polish off too many edges." Aidan offered as a compliment, toweling off.

She nods and makes her way out. "Miss Hayes." Aidan said and paused in thought as she turned. "Sumire is special to me. ANYTHING you want..... Let me know."

She gives a nod with a grin "don't worry I'll keep her safe."

"Good. Thanks"
