Mission:
Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: Emily's new/old quarters, DFS Lavie
Emily was in the quarters that she used to live in before everything happened with Yuka and Aidan, trying to set everything back up to how she had things prior to...well, everything as an old soul song was being sung by a woman with a breathy voice singing about becoming stronger as she tried to put pieces of her life back together.
Emily was dressed in her uniform pants and a black tank top as she had just come off duty but even though the threat was technically still weeks away, she kept a knife and gun at the ready with an assault rifle and ammo belt on the table in front of the couch...she wasn't taking any chances....not anymore.
As she went about the work of trying to sort her life, she tried to keep her mind off of the "decision" that was made in an attempt to try and fix things...the engagement was over and all three of them now had seprate quarters again, But it was hard going on duty and seeing Yuka, knowing that she wouldn't be curling up with her or Aidan for a long time if ever again..
Emily stopped moving stuff and went into her kitchen for a glass of water but in the quiet of her own quarters, she felt a tremor through her body and she threw the partially full glass hard into the living room area where it shattered at which point she started cursing at herself before grabbing a towel and started to clean things up.
As she cleaned things up, she started to realize how broken she was so she leaned back on her calves and tried to fight her emotions before she finally got tired of it and left her quarters..she needed humanity.
Aidan woke up alone. Normally not usual but since the break, it was taking him time to get used to. He had a few hours until his shift, so he prepared for a hard workout, pounded down a meal replacement and a few supplements he was used to taking.
His quarters, ones he'd rarely used for his own, felt empty. He didn't want to get into the blame. They all rushed headlong into the mix, the results were at once glorious and catastrophic. Chastised himself for not being more clear-headed about it. Talking to himself, he said to the mirror before walking out, "you'd think at my age, I would know better." Looking at his 20 year old face made him chuckle as he walked out the door, heading for the gym.
Emily kept her head down and tried to focus on trying to get to the lounge or some place where there was more people then just her and her thoughts as the dark haired woman weaved her way around various people on a combination of pure reflex and training until suddenly she ran into someone by complete accident. "Sorry sorry." she started to say after her tailbone had a meeting with the deck plating.
Aidan had turned his head at just the wrong moment, knocking some unsuspecting soul on their backside. When he reached out his hand to help the person back to their feet, he saw it was Emily. "Fancy meeting you here.
Emily took the hand and used it to haul herself up, "Kinda I guess...had to get out of my quarters...too loud." she said as she brushed off her backside. "Sorry about running into you like that Aidan, like I said my quarters were too loud."
"Too loud. I'll inform engineering to take a look if you want. Sometimes it just good to get out of the same four walls." Aidan offered.
Emily shook her head, "You ever encountered that old saying about how it's always too loud when the silence starts to speak to you?" she offered up simply before looking over at the man.
He put his arm around her in a friendly manner. "I get it. The saying I remember is 'the silence is deafening.'" He paused. "I still care about you. We can always do things together. Come over and read.....teach me an instrument. Hell, I don't know. Just no reason to be clawing at each other like alley cats on the warpath."
Emily nodded, running the fingers of her right hand through her hair. "I know, just needing to recenter myself to living alone again...it's the whole college feeling you know?" she said before giving up a weak chuckle. "Minus the killer alien bugs on an interstellar spree mind you but I'm not trying to avoid anyone or be an alley cat, just kinda need a day or two to get resettled with what little I have left."
She then gave up another weak chuckle, "Turns out that most of my affects from my old apartment on Asgard had just arrived when everything went down."
Aidan offered the only solace he could think of. "Too many people lost too damned much." Inwardly he wished he had the same levels of power that Gainz, Jim Olend, or Arisa had. Maybe the old adage was true, that absolute power corrupts, but he would love to be the avenging angel more often. It always seemed that no matter they went or what they did, they were always reacting. Never proactive." He added, "When things seemed to be coming together it came apart at the seams. Sadly I don't have any more answers than you do. Just feeling my way through this like nearly every other crewmember. So without a solid game plan, I am going to take out my frustrations in painful, punishing workout. At least that way, when the time come to put some thing right, I will be as ready as I can be."
Emily nodded, "I wasn't griping by the way, more like...venting, I don't know." she explained before running a hand through her hair again. "I put in some time in a workout last night with that weird Lee guy from security. Guy looks like a good strong breeze could knock him flatter then being headbutted by a Tongan after saying something ill about their kid sister, but fucker moves fast and can take a hit or six." she offered up.
"I was headed for the gym for circuit training. Hard cardio with intervals of weight training. You're welcome to join me. Time to punish and subdue the muscles." Aidan said.
Emily rubbed her chin thoughtfully for a second, "I might do that here in a bit...key word here being might...but I wouldn't be doing it to punish my muscles though mostly because it's the wrong day to work on that particular item if you understand me." she said in a simple tone before shrugging. "Just don't ask me to toss you around the ring because I think that you might enjoy that a bit too much."
She then offered up a small smile to let him know that she teasing.
Returning the smile, he offered, "Let me know if you change your mind." Then turned back toward the gym.
Emily nodded, "Will do, try and have some fun in there Aidan." she said with a smile before heading back to her own quarters.
