Mission:
Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: Andrew's quarters, Deck 3/DFS Lavie
Timeline: Evening of 10/11/4566
Andrew moved about his quarters, trying to get everything ready for when Hitomi arrived as he wanted this to be a special night as it was something that the two of them needed especially in the light of everything that had happened over the course of the last three weeks to reach Earth Two and he wanted her to know that he still cared and loved her.
So with LJ's help and calling in a few favors, Andrew's quarters not only looked very nice but they were a bit darker then normal as the only light in the entire living room and dining room areas were cast by flickering candles as he worked around in the kitchen, putting his own cooking skills to the test as he finished up a real meal.
As he finished up the meal, his mind went back to the events of the last three weeks and how he had tried to help Omi through some of the darker moments of what some were calling the "Earth Exodus" as she was dealing with the darker side of surviving a horrible event that saw the glassing of their mutual homeworld...and their home ontop of all of the deaths among other things as he tried to be there for her-the professional soldier and the engineer...the time tossed scientist-soldier and his lover.
As he started to rinse off the noodles, one example of him being there for her was watching her put the final touches on a new type of jeep. Watching with a certain kind of joy as the woman that he loved was able to come up with and build such a complex piece of equipment without any problem made him wonder if he should put her in touch with Rachel Satori, a battlemech pilot from the Alliance and see if Hitomi could possibly help her with "Lu".
Andrew shook the thought from his head as he went back to finishing up the dinner, hoping that she would be there soon.
Hitomi had dis-associated herself from what had happened a lot better than Ari and Yuka. Though she was good at ignoring her surroundings it was not a 100 percent mis on her; after all how could anyone; even those who were apathetic ignore such a horrific thing. She still had not heard if her parents survived but she knew Amanda and Eddie were okay and that was what she cared about more than anything. She had indeed finished a new jeep for use during combat operations and was working on the chassis set up for the new Battlesuit upgrades Remi was working on; she did keep this hidden from everyone though as in honesty she did not know if Remi was competent enough to code such an upgrade. After she had finished the majority of the work she decided she should be done for the day after checking on engineering which managed itself quite well leaving her, Ned and Scott to focus on their building of objects to better help the Lavie crew in their upcoming fight. She was happy her engineers were so competent; it made her life easier. She did wonder how Yuka was doing with all this... The two time traveling girls would have valued Earth more than she because it is the only place they ever knew.
After checking on engineering she headed back to her and Andrew's joint quarters and noticed the room was different. She silently headed to the bathroom to shower and change before coming back out to see what exactly he was up to; it seemed like a date.
Once Hitomi came out of the bathroom, Andrew was standing there waiting for her and actually had a blush on his face which he had actually shaven earlier in preparation for this. "I was hoping to catch you before you got here, I wanted to surprise you...call me a bit old fashioned but I thought we could do with a good, quiet meal before everything gets crazy around here again." he said with a smile as he held out a hand for Hitomi to take. "Besides when was it that we had a real meal that didn't involve hungry being meals?" he added with a faint chuckle.
Hitomi had changed into one of her normal dresses. When he seemed to be embarrassed about his new appearance she just nodded approvingly. Then when he spoke she also nodded. "You aren't gunna be lewd are you? And... you mean eating only when its lunch or dinnertime as shifts are long and arduous... Plus during the evacuation food was on rationing so of course we only only eat when required.. Um... but... This looks nice." She said finally taking in the room for once. She then took his hand.
Andrew lead Hitomi over to the table which had been set up with a more formal touch complete with two white candles. "I'm only planning on lewd stuff if you're up for it after dinner and some cuddling, Hitomi, as the crazy that I was talking about was the whole thing with getting ready for the next big fight." he explained to her before turning to face her and then bringing up his metal hand to gently cup the right side of her face before he leaned in and kissed her warmly on the lips. "Part of being in a relationship is small things like arranging a nice, intimate dinner for two out of the blue." he said gently against her lips with a smile before he turned around to pull her chair out for her.
"I called in some favors and got some help from my best friend, Lee, to put this together for you." he said with a warm and honest smile as he waited for her to sit.
"I see." She said as she took a seat letting him scoot her in as she waited.
Andrew scooted her in and then gave her another kiss before he went into the kitchen and started to bring out a few things like warm bread and salad. "For openers some light bread and salad..but also, since a friend of mine missed an important date of mine." he said with a smile after putting down the bowls of salad and the bread, returning to the kitchen with a very lovely looking purple bottle that had a tapered neck before it became wider with an old label with what appeared to be a series of trees made out of musical notes.
"A bottle of Eversong wine, vintage forty four eight two." he said with a smile, "Would my lady care for a glass?" he offered up with a polite bow at the waist.
Hitomi observed all the things he put into this and blushed especially as he started to state what was involved and what all was going to be given. She then said. "You didn't have to go to all this trouble you know... I am fine having a normal meal with you... Isn't this a bit much... Like Drew... How much time did this take to prepare?" She said worried hoping he did not spend too long on doing this. She was grateful for it but she didn't need this... She was just happy to have him none the less. When he asked if she wanted some of the wine she nodded looking over at him.
Andrew popped the cork on the wine and then let the wine breathe for a couple of minutes as he got one of the glasses prepared. "Yes I did have to go through all this trouble, Hitomi, because it's what you do for the people that you care about when you're in a relationship with someone." he said with a warm tone to his voice as he poured the first bit of wine into a glass. "When you're in a relationship with someone sometimes you just want to go all out for the person that you love and show her how special she is to you."
Andrew then handed her the glass that he just poured, "I did a bit of this in a couple of hours, Hitomi, and besides I wanted to treat you to something special because I love you and I wanted to do something special for you." he said with a warm and honest smile on his face. "Now be careful not to drink that too fast, Lee found out that's a comet vintage wine which means we really lucked out."
Hitomi took that glass and began to drink a little. She knew what he meant and that this took him time. "I understand... it is old and... I understand why you did this... You will do what you want to though; none the less thank you for this even if I don't feel I deserve it it is nice." She smiled happily back at him.
Andrew set his own glass down and then reached down to gently take her free hand into his and squeezed it warmly, "You do deserve it, Omi, and you're worth it." he said in a soft and warm tone as he gave her one more gently squeeze before letting go and moving back to his own seat. "So, how are things coming along in your department, getting settled in alright?"
Hitomi simply nodded to his question after he released his hand from hers. She just stared at him for a moment soon speaking. "Well... um... Engineering is doing just fine... making preperations... Did... you... have anyone on Earth when it?" She asked trying to figure out how he felt about losing earth. Everyone she knew was okay but was everyone ne knew okay?
Andrew leaned back in his chair as she spoke, curious as to what kind of "prerpations" was being made when she asked him about Earth to which he simply shook his head. "I'm afraid not, everyone I know was either here on the Lavie or on the Vanguard, as for my uncle and namesake...I really don't know on that one Omi." he said simply as he ran his metallic hand over his face tiredly for a moment. "What about you, did anyone you know get hurt when we had to leave Earth and what prerperations?"
"Everyone I know is fine... Preperations for our mission." Hitomi said simply. She as usually we a great conversationalist.
