Mission: Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: DFS Lavie – Lounge
Timeline: October 11th 4566 - Evening

After the nights events Ari returned to her quarters; she had gotten orders to launch the Lavie finally so they could begin their mission but that wouldn't happen until the morning. She wanted to better get to know Flan and Seleni; especially after the time the two shared; to her it was not as romantic and talky as she would have wanted... Plus aside from Remi she really had no female friends that were just that; friends. Most of the females she knew were either business acquaintances or her superiors with the exception of Sarissa whom was more or less speaking from a vulcan prospective her wife... Even if it was different.She headed to the ship's arboretum  and began to tend to the flower from before; it sat alive and real in its pot; it seemed it was not just a hologram even though it was in the holodeck. It was a replicated seed that was used by the program to reference life; or what was left of it on that snow world... Because of this fact she cherished the flower... It sort of reminded her of herself; until recently and even until meeting Sarissa, Aidan and Yuka; the entire world was dead to her but in losing Brandon she became a solitary flower in a dead cold world... People saved her from her cold dying state like she had the small living thing.(edited)


Seleni had arrived a few minutes prior and was tending to a bonsai. She was so focused on her task that she did not notice Ari entering the arboretum.


The two girls seemed so into their task that they did not notice each other initially. Once Ari finished caring for her flower she noticed Seleni in another row of plants caring for a small bonsai tree. The tiny tree was healthy and growing well for being the small fledgling tree it was. Ari left her violet flower to go see what Seleni was doing. She just approached her quietly waiting for her to complete her task.


As Ari approaches she hears Seleni whispering something akin to a song to herself.

Ari continues to wait listening to the music just observing the girl as she worked not wanting to take her focus from the needy plant and its caretaker.

Having finished caring for the tree, Seleni cleans and packs away the tools. Turning to go put the tools away she runs into Ari.


As she bumps into Ari she almost topples over but manages to maintain her composure and stance. "Em... not very aware of your surroundings yet are you..." She said with a light chuckle.


"No, not this time around." Seleni admits, embarrassed.


"All is forgiven... um... wanna go grab something to drink and chat?" She asked.


"Sure." Seleni responds as she puts away the tools.


Ari nodded and waited for her to finish before heading to the lounge with her and ordering an iced coffee of sorts.  She didn't think drinking would be best at the present time. "So; what do you plan to do when you leave the Lavie finally... We don't want you to do that but I know eventually you'll head off... at least thats how I understood you previously when you were talking?" She asked. "You have sort of become part of this family..."



Ordering a iced latte, Seleni responds, "Even if I do head off, I doubt I'll ever truly leave. I don't have much left from where I came from."


"So; do you feel a loyalty to your old home or do you just want to smash its corrupt government?  I mean with what the Senators id here I am not too happy with the Federation government but it seems they are better than the alternative...."


Sarissa walked in. Stepping to the bar and ordered a large red leaf tea and a sushi roll.  Seeing Erin at a table, she walked over and after getting the mental acknowledgement, sat down.


"At this point, the only ones who would persist in trying to find me is my sisterships. They would understand if I didn't return." Seleni says, give Sarissa a nod as she joins them.


"Seleni." Sarissa added. "How are you adjusting to your new human self?"


"Yes. It's sometimes disorienting but it beats being a walking corpse." Seleni remarks with a slight chuckle.


Erin just nodded at Sarissa sending her heart emoji's via VX and emotionally happiness at being in her presence again. She did not verbalize this though knowing about how she did not like PDAs."your humanity is working for you; good..." She replied to Seleni.


"Come see me during those times, maybe we can help you adjust." Sarissa added.


She seemed content with Seleni's answer to the question of her future. It sounded like she would be staying here at least for the foreseeable future.

"Thanks for the offer." Seleni says.


"How are you settling in to the new job as running the like helm department anyway Seleni; I've never asked you... I know at first the thought of flying the Lavie was a bit disconcerting for you..." Ari asked drinking her coffee.


"Rather similar to how flying my ship self works, It's simple but I always end up worrying that I'll end up crashing." Seleni explains.


(but they serve food, coffee espresso and everything; think of it as the cafe and bar of the lavie)

flan walks in in her civilian clothes, her duffle jacket and skirt with leggings underneath, goes to the cafe section ordering a drink that was a neon-lavender color with little luminescent balls floating in the drink as she quietly sits down near the people she recognized


Ari notied her and signaled for her to join them at the table.


flan gets up from her seat shuffling over to them and sitting down at the available seat sipping her drink through a straw


"Hey; so this is Flennel one of our engineers; this is Sarissa; the ships chief doctor and the director of trinity's medical division... and a close person to me... basically partner; closest english word I could come up with... heh... And Flan is also a friend of mine... have you two met before??"
Ari asked the two of them.


"A few times." Seleni says.


"I do not believe so. That would also be a reminder to not be negligent and keep your physical up to date. With the ship back to normal operations, we have the time to fit that in." Sarissa commented. Ever the logical one.(edited)



"I've.. met Seleni.. and.. ari.. im not sure about.. that one.." she stares at the unknown person


"Three weeeks of downtime ladies... DOWNTIME... can you believe it... This thing has been running nonstop since I got here..." Ari laughed... "And then consider yourselves introduced..." Ari said with a thumbs up to Flan as she just introduced the doctor and Flan.


"Nearly a month of break" Seleni says. "To bad its not an official leave."


"I wonder if any of us would know what to do with actual leave time..." Ari replied.



"Just.. what I needed" I've been working on a personal project, but if you guys are up and about.. I don't mind coming out of my shell for a bit.." she says, picking out one of the little glowing balls to eat


"I've been working on stuff too... so has Remi... basically we wantto make each other and our tactical units stronger..."
"Fighting these bugs is going to be not normal... We need to be ready..."


"A specimen to study would be at the top of the list, but given the telepathic nature of the creature, that would be risky. Though a mind meld might prove useful." Sarissa commented.


"Just do me a favor and don't send me their dark evil emotions of KILL ALL HUMANS... I don't want ot be inside of somethings head that is already that deadly; it might make me like my old self again... I don't want to beat any of you nice ladies up; I like the three of you..."
Ari said


"If it is telepathic, wouldn't countermeasures be prudent? So the thing doesn't go and enslave the workers and such." Seleni asks.


"theres someone I know.. that you might be able to mine through his mind.." flan said nonchalantly.. " talks between combatants.. I've eavesdropped.. He resides in the Nuance.. you might wanna see him.. appearantly word says those things avoid hurting him.."


"Countermeasures would be prudent. There are safeguards that can be put into place."(edited)


"Nuance... You mean Warren... Sarissa who in medical reviewed thos reports; I remember information security getting a brief on that but no action was taken as no one know what was going on... I remember the bugs were somehow drawn to the Judgment... I wonder if he has any information on this or if there is something... Well it seems telepathic people also draw them somehow..."


"So.....This Warren.....Is he psionic?" Seleni asks.


"ah so we both know.."
"its almost like they're looking for telepaths.. psionics.. anyone with strong mental abilities.."


"Why have they not attacked Vulan then..."


"Psionics moreso.."


"There wasn't any.....weird shadows or things like that on the scope before the attack were there?"  Seleni asks.


"they must not have enough forces or overpower a planet full of telepaths.."
"weird shadows..? we might need to ask him.. what would that mean..?


"So they specifically avoided the Vulcan people due to the percentage of vulcans who are telepathic... hum..."
"Would explain why they never attacked Betazed..."




Seleni sighs, " Nothing. Just me being edgy." she says as she looks away.



"I assume the bugs have a hivemind, the queen, king.. its sentient and probably smart or micro-manage a force of biological beings.. it must want to secure a victory before attemping.."


Sarissa thought about it. "Maybe they need direction. The persons or people in command might be able to overwhelmed."

"well for a hive mind that strong.. telepaths might not cut it if you're looking for a bug assault squad.. Psionic is what you're looking for.. those are the type that can control large amounts of things.. and I bet you.. chances are, those are the types of people the bugs are trying to retrieve.. not harm.."
"any other mental category of psychic they probably might try to make use of them or dispose of them.." flan looks up with a idea on her face "maybe.. its looking for surrogates.."


"It could also be that perhaps the hive mind is controlling more of these individuals than we think?" Sarissa commented


"Either way, I doubt people would appreciate being turned into something like half bug half people...things." Selei says, blanching at the mental image.


"for that thing to expand more than its capacity.. surrogates can make it expand that much more.. its like almost another queen.. king or whatever controls those things.."
"and seleni.. knowing the nature of those things.. they can infect people.. they much want to infect non psionics to use their abilities.. some reports said they have tried to latch themselves on machinery.. that probably means not even technology might not be entirely safe.."


"I like this; we should have these sorts of get togethers more often; get to talk about mission; life... bounce ideas around... I adore you three and am glad I finally have some female friends to talk to; usually I'd beat the fuck out of girls in my past... erm... heh... and this suqad you speak of... sounds like XCOM..." Ari blushed
She wondered if ANYONE would get eh reference.(edited)


"U-Urgh..." Seleni groans. "I didn't need to hear that in particular part about it absorbing machinery."
"What is this XCOM thing you speak of?" Seleni asks, curiously.


"er... um... its a game from my home time... basically an elite military squad that fights aliens in the shadows with special tactical gear, psionics and using Alient tech against them..."
She looked embarrassed about her nerdiness being displayed publicly.


"or the movie alien.." flan said.. how did she know a movie from that time?


"Sometimes I seriously doubt that you're as tough as the rumors say that you are." Seleni says looking at Ari.


"You have not seen me put the marines here in their place then have you..." Ari replied.



"now before anyone accuses me of knowing too much.. I've actually been speaking with warren.. appearantly there's something he's concerned about that he needs to do in a future time.. thats why iv'e been staying up at ungodly hours working on something for myself.."


Sarissa replied, "At least we have a plan to pursue now."



"has Sholtz been told what is going on with him?" Ari asked


"I don't know that much-- what's between them is between them.. I'm not going that deep in.. he's probably been quiet about it to make sure he knows exactly whats going on to make sure he doesnt worry anyone with information that isnt concrete..?"


"I see... Well... anything that is not mission related you girls wanna talk about... heh... I tell you; work... it literally eats poeples lives..." Ari said with a smile.


"That or people get addicted to it." Seleni says with a laugh.


"engineering work is... all I know.. its kinda hardwired into me.."
"my family and here, all I've known was basically work."



"Thats why you need more friends like us..." Ari said to her.


"its to a point where it doesn't feel like work.. its just how the life is to me.."


"You must have other hobbies though..."


"I try.. but socializing is a challenge.. thats why I wear heavy clothes... as a security blanket.."


"It's the balance that it important. Knowing when work is important , but without compromising self and health." Sarissa added.


"Poor little, sheltered Flan." Seleni says.



"its like yeah I live my reading, research, games and martial arts but even though it all interlinks with my job... wait... what I am I saying; it does define me... pfft... a 22 year old captain..."



"I uh.. the only hobby besides working on things is.. I collect things.. you might know them as anime merchandise.. my quarters is basically a merchandise storage room.."


"Nice to meet someone with the same interests as me." Seleni says to Flan.


"You should see my computer then..." Ari sent Flan via VX


Sarissa furrowed her brow as she spoke to Flan. "I am curious. Do you wear it for protection from cold or prying eyes?"


"heh..." Ari kept her thorughts on the matter  after Sarissa spoke to herself
Sarissa could tell she was being lewd in her mind


a little smile crept on flan's face "i like you guys.." she turns over to sarissa "its both reasons.. it makes me feel safe.."
"a mission it doesn't matter what i wear.. but for socializing.. I found that world to be scarier..|



"The world is socially scary; its why I fight everyone; people are bastards and whores... a person is kind and useful..." Ari said.


"I find that a reasonably applied armlock deters most of the ardent suitors. Being this curvy can be problematic with human males....mostly" Sarissa said.


"its for all races and sexes... to be honest.."


"Heh... and Sarissa I'm not just saying about sexual advances; people are trash... just look at the city I grew up in... all judgmental trash..." She shakes her head. "I should adopt Flan's policy... throw on a winter overcoat and leggings under skirtshorts... Nobody be looking at these cerves tell you earn it..." She said in a cocky manner.


Sarissa said. 'Too bulky. I am always cold in this ship. I apply science and adopt better clothing. I cannot have a coat in the way during work."


"Well your also an exception to the rule my dear; I could throw your ass in a fire and you'd still be hot..." Ari regretted saying that after she did and hoped that she wouldnt annoy her for the display in public.


Sarissa uncharacteristically smirked at Erin and winked.


"You guys are alot different from the people I had as friends." Seleni says. "It's really refreshing."


"Anyway... you ladies wanna do this talk again sometime... maybe we could talk more.. set a date and all..." Ari said asking tem.


"I do find this.....interesting." Sarissa said.


"anytime.."


"Just call" Seleni says with a smile.


Ari winked at the three. She then smirked.


"if this is when we leave.. there's some water-based crystals I want to be my hands on.."
(is this about to end or we just planning another date?)


"Water gems; I could get you some... "
Ari got up after finishing her coffee and messaged each of the girls to see when they would want to do this again and then shurgged. "While I am going ot get a few hours of sleep... oh yeah; if we wre back in my home time today; the 12th would be my birthday... but timetravel..."


"great.. now I just need to schedule an appointment for hikaru and whoever's good with special ops.."


Seleni eyes widen. "Oh, Happy Birthday." she replies.


"birth..day?"


"erm... a day when you celebrate the fact that you've increased in age..." Ari explains to Flan.


"so.. you celebrate as you go through your mortality..? that seems kinda morbid.."


Ari laughs... "Your cluelessness is so cute..."



"An odd human custom. One among many. My husband took great pains to celebrate them with our children, which they found enjoyable." Sarissa added


"eh... its kind of a writ of passage for humans too..."
Ari explained


"It usually involves a cake and gifts. Though later on, I have seen drunkenness and other less desirable activities in the human adults"


"As where I come form when you turn 18 you gain the right to sign contracts and legally enter into legal oblications..."


"i guess im not raised as a human"


"And at 21, you're allowed to have alcoholic drinks. Which usually twenty-first birthdays are the...rowdiest?" Seleni says.


"heh... Mine I just got into fights as usual..."
Ari smirked.


"Mine were all formal." Seleni says, shuddering at the recollections.


"did someone throw a wine bottle at your hull as you went on your maiden voyage?"


Seleni just stares at Flan with a confused expression for a moment then bursts into a fit of laughter.


"She use to be a person before sh was a ship you dumby..."
Ari bonks Flan


"i dont know that"



"You should probably get some sleep two you three... we are leaving in the morning... we will have plenty of time to doddle around, talk and such..."
Ari said as started to head off after waving and giving each of them a look.


flan gets up and leaves "Ill see you guys another time" before tripping and falling into the floor due to a chair leg, she looks back and points "you guys didnt see that." she gets up and continues to walk to her quarters
