Mission:
Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: Cargo bay 2
Timeline: Oct 14, 4566 afternoon
Niklas VX'ed Carmela and had a laundry list of items to get. Turning to one of the engineers. "Go get me a spare impulse engine from stores. One we use on the small shuttlepods. Walking over to the wall he pulled out an emergency fusion power pack and plugged it in. "Hang in there baby. He accessed the com of the ship and tied it into the cargo bay speakers. "I am Lieutenant Niklas Blom. I am trying to help you."

The Oracle let off a screech of static, but it wasn't static. It was a high density diagnostic signal, letting the doctor know exactly what was wrong with it, from the shredded engine shroud to the shattered steel of her sensor boom and torn cables. Even that the computer core was starting to go into a dangerous overheat.
At least, if he could understand the compressed stream of data. All it knew was that it was blind and in pain, it couldn't feel its engine, and was starting to panic.
Hansen came back and niklas one armed the small impulse engine. He removed the impulse manifold and took out the deterium tanks, pumps and eps relays. It wasn't perfect, but it would help stabilize. Grabbing the magnetic bottle, he sealed the port and filled the tank. Connecting the eps relay back to the battery pack, he switched the pump on and relayed his own static back. "Hang on. I can help you." The temperature started dropping. With the tank holding, Niklas steadily increased the flow.
The burst was finished off with a small, pained croon as the camera gimbal swivelled again. The comms array started pulsing a radar signal to try to get a better view of its surroundings, but it would quickly become evident that there was no sensor feeds available as some of the fuel started leaking from a blown line somewhere deep within the patchwork hull.
But nonetheless, the leak ebbed and stopped as the biological portion of the line started to heal.
Carmela came in, running at full tilt and barely stopped in time. "Here dad. I brought your bag." She said. "Everyone not an android clear out now!" he offered. When they had done so, he said. "Computer. Lower the temperature by 80° Celsius." With the impulse engine patch working its magic, he took a small subspace relay from his bag and patched it into the console. he punched in some codes and the ship could now use the internal sensors only inside the cargo bay.
He used a tricorder and scanner to make a more complete diagnostic. It would take a minute to compile the data on his oversized tablet.
It didn't take long for the ship to figure out the sensor systems, and saw itself lying on the bay floor, crushing itself under its own weight. Looking through these eyes was weird, even for a living ship, and it voiced this with a questioning buzzing noise from the speakers. No one had installed a voice pack, it seemed. But the ship could easily see the oversized pad and poke at its security. It didn't take long for it to access some voice logs of Thorn's and compile a message of clips and words in various tones.
"Zero... Grav. Starship-- Mass approx. Four. Ton. Rated hull... Cap. Unknown..."
"Weight... Hurt."
"Computer. Decrease gravity by 95%. Carmela, be careful. You aren't used to this." Nik said.
Seeing the messages on the padd, he asked for a holographic keyboard and quickly made a small program. Testing it out, he said. "Does that feel better?"
[Better. What happened? My systems are all torn up, and I can't see much. I can't feel my engine. Or my jump drive.]
"There is quite a bit of damage. Luckily, you landed here. I possess unique talents and work on organic and synthetic beings as well as ships. I will need time to make repairs. The immediate concern was your computer core, it should be cooling nicely now." NIklas said. "Your pilot or occupant said something about an anomaly. Others from your region of space came here recently. It appears far from home, but you are amongst friends."
[It's still kinda warm. But yes, my core is within safe limits. There are others? Like me, or like my pilot? Wait a second...]
There was a buzzing noise from the speakers as it directed a few cameras to the components keeping it alive, and to the ruptured reactor wall on its side. Again, the text scrolled across the padd. [I hit an anomaly, yes... Is that my reactor? It hurts. A lot. Is it really ruptured like that?]
He fed the data back to the AI in the computer through the padd link. Risky but it was his best shot at getting the information he needed.
[Yup. Alright. Here's the complete diagnostic data on the current state of my hull versus what it should look like. I'll help with repairs and try to not squirm too much.] As though the AI were joking around, it fired a maneuvering thruster for a mere quarter of a second before the speakers let out a yelping burst of static. [Okay, that hurt.]
More importantly, though, as the AI violated security measures and cracked its way around the main computer into a hologram projector, it displayed a wireframe model of itself as its design specified. Then parts started blinking red or black to indicate how bad the damage was. Unfortunately, most of the frame was either yellow or red, and aft of the jump drive was completely black, indicating no detection of the components.
"I would refrain from doing that again. Lumi takes her security very seriously and I don't want to isolate you. " Niklas said.
( lumi is the AI for the ship)
[She kinda let me through on that one. She knows what you're doing. And I have the AI equivalent of a riding crop.]
[She comes near me, I swat her on the ass and she knows it. Probably gonna get my data shunted into an ejectable storage medium for that, but it'll be worth it.]
(I can be up all night. Basically, if Lumi comes too close, the Oracle will happily data dump Thorn's porn stash into Lumi's database.)
"NIklas offered, "The impulse parts will take time to get your cooling down to an acceptable level. I need to do a bit of research on exactly what kind of parts you need and if we can fabricate them. So far nothing too exotic. How much of you is organic and can you absorb parts, if you catch my meaning. " NIklas asked.
[About fifty percent of my moving components are organic, alongside the neural plasticity of my computing core. There's also the chromatophoric plating. Like I can do this.] With a sudden shudder of moving skin, anything still connected to the Oracle's main body turned an inky black, patchworked with bits that had been torn off in the jump. Shifting patterns of grey in the black would have made visual identification of the ship nearly impossible if it were in space. [I have a lot of ways to hide. Kinda good at it.]
"I will study what we can do in the way of organic help. Patches and bandages. Maybe some tweak to a dermal regenerator." Niklas became lost in thought.
The skin faded to its normal mottled bronze as the Oracle relaxed.
"Let me do a little research. I will keep you subspace relay frequency handy. Reach out if you need anything." Niklas offered. "I will need to raise the temperature, but I can get a few anti-grav units to completely take the weight off."
[Thank you. I'll start scavenging hydrogen out of the air and try to cool off some more. If that bit even works. I'm just glad Thorn's okay.]
"I'll install an MH (metallic Hydrogen) turbine before I leave. It'll bleed down to liquid. That'll help." Nik said.
The AI gave a soft croon as though it was smiling before drifting off. [Tired, now. I'm gonna rest. I'll set everything up and just try and be okay.]
Grabbing his tools, Nik repaired a small break and tested the system. No leaks he could detect. He hauled the 2 ton unit over and spliced in fuel. "Rest easy. You're in good hands."
