Mission: Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: DFS Lavie, Cooridors
Timeline: Oct 14, 4566 afternoon (After Doctor Oracle)

Jay was still trying to adapt to his new living situation. He was told that he was going to be assigned to the DFS Lavie, and Trinity Command Base. It was becoming clear, that most of his time would be spent on the DFS Lavie and not the command base. In a small way, Jay preferred that. He did not want to be hanging out or living with the top brass. Jay was making his way down the corridors of the ship, when he noticed another man approaching his postion. They practically ran into each other.

"Sorry about that, sir." Said Jay, not seeing the man wearing a uniform with a rank. He decided best to call him sir, since he was not sure if the man was an officer or not, he could be a civilian. Jay stopped and moved out of his path, to allow him to pass.

The scarred individual he almost bumped into looked up from her wrist, showing the datapad built in to her flesh before cocking an eyebrow.  "Sir?  Dude, I'm a chick.  Till my ship's okay, a civilian chick.  Don't worry about it."  She hadn't yet had time to get her clothes from her ship's storage pod, and was currently running about in a simple black tee shirt and BDUs made for someone significantly wider in the hips than she was.

"Sorry about that." Said Jay in an apologetic tone. "Sorry for practically running into you, as well." Said Jay as he reached out to shake her hand. "Name is Jay Phillips, the new CAG on the DFS Lavie."

"A pleasure.  Mercenary Researcher Thorn Ironhart, Captain of the Oracle."  Thorn reached up and shook the offered hand with a surprisingly firm grip, for her size.  "I hope we'll be able to work together in the future, Jay."

Jay looked at Thorn, and glanced her over. She was short. But cute as a button. He smiled as he said. "I look forward to it, so what brings you to the Lavie?" Asked Jay. He was very curious about her. Like the captain of the Lavie, it appeared that the captain of the Oracle, was a little hottie. He wondered to himself, did you have to be cute to get a command?

"Okay, I can see the way you're looking at me, and unless you like flat as a board and more scars and augs than ass, I'm not your type.  As far as what brings me here... I got shot through a wormhole and had to put out a distress beacon.  The Lavie was the ship that responded."  Thorn's tone was very matter of fact, though the slight curl at the corner of her lip showed the ghost of a smirk.  "I'll be cuter when I grow up."

"Well I have no doubt of that, but I was trying to make you feel better. Either you're a telepath, or my body cues told you I was being overly friendly. And how much does age need to be cute? You look to be in your 20's. You may have scars, but they do not make you grotesque. They define you. And there is more to beauty that a scar free face, and a flat chest female. There is personality. And your personality is glowing." He said, noticing that she picked up on his game so quickly. He was not going to give up so easily. well not 'till she said no or told him to bug off.

Thorn pursed her lips, smirking as her eyebrows cocked, processing the words.  Then she let off a small chuckle.  "Okay, can't say I was prepped for that one, lover boy.  Your poker face sucks and I know for a fact that you're lying about how old I look."

The problem with her short and thin stature wasn't just in the fact that it was caused by a growth inhibitor.  More that she knew, looking in the mirror that she still looked twelve, and most of the time people thought her ID was fake when buying cigarettes or other adult vices.  The scarring didn't help, no matter how much "personality" it gave her.  It was just a reminder of how many times that personality had gotten her in trouble.  Still, she found herself amused, and the smile showed it.

"Mind asking a girl to dinner before flirting like that?"

"We just met Captain, but I am free, if you have time." He suggested with a warm smile on his face. Jay was a little confident, and arrogrant. But he thought that Thorn was playing hard to get, or danging the bait.

And the dinner bell is ringing Thorn thought, letting a touch of mischief slip into her smile.  "So I hope you don't mind that I'm technically under guard until the Fleet decides I'm not a threat.  That said, perhaps we can take this somewhere candle lit, with wine?"

"We can have dinner in the holodeck, the guards can wait outside." He grinned, with a smile. "Maybe dinner in France, Earth. Maybe on Risa, or Betazed?" Asked Jay, laying on his cute little charm. His demeanor was more playful.

"Oh, so many places I've never been!"  Thorn played along, her voice rising in thinly veiled excitement.  She had to admit that the playful demeanor and cute approach of her date was growing on her.  Thorn batted her eyelashes in response, cocking a hip and clasping her hands in front of her, almost like an expectant child.  "Where I'm from, Earth's a myth, so let's go there."

"Do you prefer a lively place like New Orleans, or a romantic setting like Paris, France or do you prefer the cool summer breeze of Dessert of Sedona, Arizona?" Asked Jay, hoping to catch a glimpse of her mood, her answer would help him decide how to proceed next.

One of the many things Thorn had learned in her career as a mercenary was how to act.  How to pretend and hide her true intentions of simply wanting a free meal behind a curiosity about the man she'd be spending it with.  While she was honestly somewhat curious about him, she wasn't going to admit that to herself, but would gladly display it to get what she wanted.  With a slight pout, she answered,  "Oh, I don't know any of those places.  What's your favorite?  We can go there?"

"All of them have their charm." Said Jay, noticing the game that she was playing. She was trying to please him, he wondered what her angle was? "Do you feel like hanging out in a big social circle. You did mention a candle lit, maybe Paris, France. Or you have the nice cozy charm and summer breeze with a hint of romance in the air of Sedona, Arizona. All choices are nice, but its up to you. After all, your my guest." He said, trying to refocus the attention on her.

"Candles were one of the few similarities our worlds seem to share."  Thorn sounded almost hurt, homesick.  "I suppose France is, after all, the best choice for a dreamy evening unwinding after work."

"Meet me at the holodeck 2 at 2000 hours? Your chapprones can show you the way, if you get lost. I have enjoyed our little encounter, I hope to see you tonight." He said, as he got ready to leave the area.

"I'd like that!"  Thorn bowed gently, before bouncing off down the hall, letting herself give a small squeal of excitement.  After all, she'd just earned her dinner.  One of the Marines assigned to watch her rolled her eyes, knowing exactly what had just happened.  Following her charge, she said nothing.
