Season 2; Mission 2: It's Only Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt

Sera was much more calm now that the mission was over. Having had some time to.relax and clear her mind.of thoughts, at least for now, of the horrors she saw. But there was something that terrified her more, that pulled at her thoughts.
She had seen a side to Kyle that scared her, seeing such brutality, it was another reminder of how much he had changed. It made it painfully clear that this was a conversation that waited, and needed to happen. To learn if there was anything left of the young man she knew. Something she steeled herself for as she knocked on the door.
Azazel had been sitting in the corner contemplating alone by himself. not saying much of anything as the days events ran through his mind. In his hand was a large bottle of vodka, with 6 more empty next to him. "Yeah..." he responded to the knock.
The door opened to reveal Sera, the first things her eyes falling on was the empty bottles. She stepped in cautiously, "Maybe you should put down the bottle for a bit. What's the matter?"
"Oh... just thinking about the mission." he said calmly smiling, finishing thr rest of the bottle then setting it down. "You wanted to talk Seraphina?" he spoke in a tone that was, to say the least, off.
"Yes, I have to know something.", She said before taking a seat, only a couple down from him. The difference in voice did not go unnoticed. And despite feeling terrible about being fearful of her own son, she couldn't discount the feeling.
"Know what?" He asked turning to face her.
Sera gave a audible gulp as she thought how to pose this question. Afraid of what his response would be, she knew where the exit was. "What happened, what happened to change you?"
Azazel looked down at the bottles, "I've been alive for a long time. every family I've ever had had died. Caring about others when you outlive them is... more or less futile now. I've seen them all die before me... even you." he said looking up to her. "I was... you died infront of me..."
"I've been through the same Kyle. But I never stopped loving those who passed. I am the last. And for a long time I felt truly alone, until I met you. You may not have been born my son, but you are the best I could have ever asked for. You were young at the time, but I saw a growing man before me, a good man.", the angel said with a joyful expression despite the situation.
But that changed to sadness as she continued, "But it hurts to see what I could not help to change, change you. I ask myself, where did I fail. To know I couldn't shield your heart from the pain you feel. But I am here now, and you know I still love you. I would do anything to make you happy, and keep you safe."
Azazel nodded, He was bottling up all of these emotions and didn't know how to express them. So a thought came into his mind, 'Push her away to protect her and you.' He accepted it. "Anything?" He said standing up, "Alright, I want you to stop loving me. I'm not going to get better." he said chuckling. "You want to know who killed you before me?" he asked, then pointed at himself. "You're not my mother, your an abomination. Your species treated me like utter horse shit. I know your intentions, but I don't want to take my chances. You're better off with the jack offs here than talking and dealing with me. You failed when you accepted me as your son. I am not a good boy. I never was, always a disappointment and not strong enough to survive." He spoke audibly and blunt.
"You take you and the wings in forged for you and get a fucking life. Because I'm not a good boy anymore. I'm a grumpy, dead, old man who has been through hell and back and doesn't want to return yet keeps coming back out of the force of nature that brings me back." He said sitting back down and then grabbing another vodka and chugging it looking away.
The angel was shocked, stunned, and horrified all at once. Tears running down her cheeks, unable to form words as all these feelings seized her. She heard every word with a pained clarity, but she didn't want to believe it. She shook her head in utter disbelief, "No, No, No, that is not true. I love you, don't say these things. I don't believe you. I still believe you're the young man I was proud of. I will not abandon you."
Azazel smashed the vodka bottle, "Just fucking leave! what don't you god damn understand you fucking bitch! I'm not dealing with you!"
Sera tried to keep her voice steady as she held back from sobbing, "Then you will have to kill me. You're all I have left, don't leave me alone again."
“Take my fucking daughter for all I care! GO!” He shouted now at her, breaking the bottle in his hand and cutting himself on the glass. “Take a hint and LEAVE!”
Sera stood trying to be brave, "You didn't listen. I am not giving up, you'll have to kill me if you want me to leave you alone. I know you won't do it, because you still love me too."
Azazel turns to her and stands up, "I'm not dealing with this." he said then turning and leaving the room.
Sera grabbed him by the shoulder, "No, we are not done here. I will not leave you alone until I get through to you."
Azazel turns to her when she grabs him and sucker punches her righ in the throat. Then saying, "Just stop." slightly teary as he tried to leave again.
Seraphina fell to her knees unable to breath, gagging and choking as her wind pipe collapsed. Her vision darkened as she watched him walk away.
Chandra came in moments later and saw her on the floor and quickly dashed to her and gave her some air, mouth to mouth. "Grandmother!" she called out trying to keep her from passing out.
She gasped for air as her windpipe straightened back, a rather dark bruise already apparent on her throat. Sera was still seeing spots as she started sucking air in again with a cough. "He....hit.....me...", She managed between wheezes.
"Who? Who hit you Grandmother? What happened!" she started to panic as she didn't know what was going on.
With a hoarse voice she answered, "Kyle....He said he killed me, and that I was a bitch." Sobs retook her as she suffered from both what had just happened and her throat which was still in pain.
"Father did this to you? He... what?" she reached over and offered her a cup of water from the table full of vodka.
"He said I was an abomination and a failure as a mother, that I should stop loving him, because he wasn't good anymore.", She said in a sob filled voice as she rested her head against the floor.
"Why... why stay then? Why stay...." she said now spiteful of him. "I Denounce you father!" she shouted.
Sera wrapped her arms around Chandra in a hug as she continued crying, "I don't know what to do."
"Grandmother. It's alright, I'm here. You don't need that much hate being apart of your life." She said hugging her back.
