2,501 words; about a 13 minute read

Mission: Season 2: Mission 1: Day after Day
Location: City-Ship; Command Center; Conference Room
Timeline: Oct 13th 4566; Early Evening

After the events at Marsia Remi had locked herself in her room for a little bit. She came out to eat and sighed when someone was sitting in the main room. She had only realized who this was after her appearnce rang a bell. It was Trinity's Operations Director and the commander of the city ship Sophie Archer. "Sumiere.... Please come over here for a moment." Remi did as she was told while eating a sandwich.

Meanwhile Sophie had already contacted Scott, Flan, Kiri and Keselar. She had gotten permission from Jack to use one of his agents for this mission but did not specify whom specifically to keep her methods hidden. She knew everything that happened around these parts just like Yuka... After all to properly direct everyone she needed to ensure everyone was doing well. She had also asked medical to send someone on this team. She had the team meet in one of the conference rooms.

Kessler entered the room and took a seat in the empty room.

Remi ate while Sophie spoke. “We have a mission for you to lead… There is a planet that we believe was taken ever by a parasite person of sorts. They requested assistance from Planetary Security but with how limited the forces are in that region they asked Trinity to send a team. We are wanting this to look like a standard response to a call for help, so we are sending one team.” Remi stops eating and stares at her. “You know I’m tied to this place now; right and why would I be selected to lead anyone… I gather information… Not fight…” “The same could be said for the scientists I am sending with you to build us a base out there, experiment if you do find someone who is under the influence of the bugs… You are all soldiers first even those of you in the civilian branches… With how few able-bodied people we have everyone who can hold a gun will be holding a gun.” “And let me guess if I say I don’t want to go you’ll just make me…” “Not at all… but is sitting here brooding going to help you any?” Remi shrugged at Sophie; she just wanted to sit here and play her games… The world was too real right now but she would have to do this eventually… Why not just get the entire thing done now so command would leave her alone for a while to play her games. “Fine…” Sophie set down a pad that explained where she was to meet and then left Remi to her preparations without telling her anything more.

Sarissa responded to her summons and made her way to the conference room. Still in scrubs with the normal underlayer of thermals on, she took a seat, her eyes buried in a paper that Niklas Blom submitted on chemical learning in tandem with implants.

Flan read the message and gets up seemingly exhausted, replying with a simple "K" in text before getting dressed and using her courier bot to carry her over to the conference room, as she leaned against the wall

scott sends a message to drass and aiden to come to the onyx r&D bunker that is scotts office

By the time remi arrived in her Trinity uniform Sophie was thee looking at each of the people who had arrived. Sophie pulled up a screen that listed the people involved in the team and their roles; she had added and modified a few and contacted the relevant people.

Scott responds to the summons with a "hold on please trying to get some tools to a crew member"(edited)

Aidan growls in his VX and send a voice clip. "This better be damned important for me to come to you."

The list is as follows:

Support:
Kessler Ryzka - Pilot/Operations Support
Seleni Kiirmant - Co-Pilot/Weapons Specialist

Field Team:
Sumiere Rembrant - Team Leader/Mission Commander
Scott Johnson - experimentation Specialist/Science
Flan Lanreth - Field Engineer/Heavy (she will be using a powered suit in this if needed)
Sarissa Slane - Medic
Drass Kebron - CQC Specialist

Sophie hands out pads explaining what she told remi about their mission.

“wouldnt you want to see the weapons you requested for drass” scott responds to aiden

Messages Scott back, saying he's got a mission and he'd stop by afterwards.

scott says screw it and has ceci bring the guns with him to the meeting

Aidan messages back. "Security Alert."

Kessler just looks at the pad and downloads the data before sliding the blank pad back.

Looks over the pad he was handed.

Sophie waits for the final few people to arrive

scott arrives and sees people reading pads and just shrugs and asks "what planet do i need to blow up?"
and drass i brought you a few goodies that you wouldnt come get like i asked

"Commander banter later.. give him his gear."
Sophie said coldly to Scott

Looks at Scott, "I said I'd stop by after the mission..."

and i figured a few toys would be good for this mission...whatever it is
ceci give drass his toys please
(1 A heavy compound bow, something with 1000 pound pull. It would fire rocket assisted anti-mech arrows. That's something your pocket dimension would be perfect for with worrying about destroying the universe. Relatively low tech and damned effective. Also funny.

2 Because his hands are a little chunky to say the least. We are going to oversize a Broomhandle Mauser but this one it going to use shotguns shells. Thinking 10 gauge or even 8 gauge. Called the TFS> The fly swatter as it will send clouds of shot down range.)

The little girl gives Drass these objects that look like something she souldn't be able to lift.

isnt my darling little daughter strong smiles innocently

Remi lays her head on the cold table. "Can we do something other than gloat... I could be playing a game right now..." She seemed less pleased with her surroundings than she was when kesslar and everyone else basically deroped all over her and made her run away from the group.

Kessler: like anyone is falling for that Scott.

She really did not want to be here rigth now

Aidan sees the exchange to Drass. "Johnson. I suggest you stow that stuff for now, unless you want me volunteer you to lead this away team into combat."(edited)

oh sorry i didnt see you there sophie havent really talked to you since you wanted to shoot me way back when.

"Wait... I don't have to lead!" remi seemed happy but then Sophie shook he rhead at her and Remi's happiness quickly faded.

Drass inspected the bow, testing the draw, "Good work, Commander."

“no problem now i hope i can make myself useful by blowing up a second planet for our mission...that is our mission right?”

Sophie then made eye contact with each member of the group. She then glares at Scott "No commander..." She then continues."Alright everyone... I am only going over this once. You read the initial details... We will be sending your team to investigate if the governor of this world was taken control of by a parasite of the bugs but to also respond to an emergency call from them. As they see this as a standard operation we are just sending your team in so they don't get any strange ideas that we are on to them. Dr. Johnson will be creating a tool to scan for this parasite... If it is indeed found your mission is to capture the governor by any means and return to command with him so we can experiment and finally learn something about these bugs and how their telepathic command structure works... if not then just deal with their request for help.... Pretty much the call is a hostage situation at the government's capital. A fairly standard situation that we would normally not be involved in if it were not this type of situation and if the Federation were not so soldier less..."
"Any questions?" She asked.

Kessler: how someone so irresponsible got to be officer is baffling. He Says quietly to himself.

"We are not blowing up allies." Seleni says to Scott as she walks in.

“can we bring dr hax he loves experimenting on things...”

"Why am I leading this... im not a tactics specialist... you need a SWAT team... I'm just like... a politician..." remi said to Sophie

that reminds me note to self move the pulverizer to a secure location

Sophie sighs. "the assignments are made Ensign; you are a trained intelligence operative just like everyone else in Info sec... Dr... No Mr. Hax medical license was revoked anyway." Sophie replied
"Now any questions related to the mission?" Sophie asked the group

Kessler: why was I chosen and what am I flying?(edited)

can i gass the planet with my ne knockout gas based off of koto coffee?

"Section 6 has good pilots and your people have tactical incursion experience. There are other reasons but I won't be going into those..." She replied to Kessler as a picture of the Lavie's yacht appears on the holoscreen.
Sophie sighs at Scott. "For one we dont have the gear to gas an entire planet; for two you could kill numerus civilians."

"No, You are not." Seleni says to Scott. "You're not doing anything like that."

Kessler: sorry additional question. How the hell is this man an officer?

ok ill just get some armor and pray to the guardian that we dont meet any spiders like on kiru...

"One more outburst Commander Johnson." Aidan said, in a serious tone. "That is quite enough!"

Sophie looks over at the guard in the room whom was standing by the door. "Please escort the Commander to his quarters."

flan looks back and forth, trailing the people thats talking, in attempt to listen to everyone

"Sir." The security officer comes up to Scott's chair and puts a hand on his shoulder
Remi has a sudden urge to hide under the table feeling like a fight is going to happen.
She doesnt act upon it.

ok scott gets up and leaves with the guard

Sophie calls Yumi and assigns her in Scott's place.
"Any other relevant questions?" Sophie asked putting much emphasis on relevant.

Aidan pipes up. "So this is more of an investigation or do we expect combat. This isn't really a combat team?"(edited)

Kessler: what will I be doing exactly as operation support?

He shook his head, "No ma'am."

"it is both."
"And operational support is providing information from the ship; giving details and even tactical support as needed on the ground... hence why the two of you have combat experience... if the team needs you you'll be sent in to assist asa backup team."

"Ill help wherever i can.., ill be wherever i'm needed as well.."

Kessler: my equipment is geared to black ops, infiltration, and recon. Will those be needed, or should I pack power armor just in case?

"yes."

"Both. Never hurts to be sufficiently prepared." Seleni says

"Recon and black ops load out... the goal is to deal with the hostage takers before the even realize a spec ops team is there..."
"No doubt if they realize more than normal police are there they WILL kill people..."

"Maybe, I should wait on the ship. Never been any good with stealth." Seleni says.

Kessler: good then I can put my skills to use then. I can get you a suit too seleni.(edited)
Kessler: adaptive camo, sound suppression, and detection avoidance does help.

"Any other questions?

Sarissa asks, "do we know anything about the parasite?"

"i assume we'd have to use a surgical force for it rathered than a bullrush tactic.." Flan said

Kessler: not my style. Quick, quiet, and by the books.

"We do not and we would need to capture the governor without the local forces realizing we have; basically we save him and his staff and bring them with us." Sophie explained

Sarissa committed the padd to memory and started making a mental checklist of things she would pack.

Kessler: Seleni, did you want that suit?

Seleni shakes her head. "I appreciate the offer though."

Kessler: understood. Power armor?

"If there are no further questions the briefing is concluded. Your team will take 12 hours to travel there... We will keep you apprized with real time intelligence. You will depart as soon as possible." Sophie finished waiting for any final comments.

Kessler: with permission ma'am, I would like to bring some ECS modules in case we need to hide the ship.

"This is why all you secion 6 and intel servie people from MSA just need to use our gear... ECS is part of our load out... It is not a special addon... it is part of the gear we issue agents... you can control it in VX..." Sophie seemed annoyed that due to four different military orgnaizations makingup Trinity not everyone used a standard Delta Force Loadout.

Kessler: it's effective and what I know ma'am. We work best with what we're trained with. Just ceasing use of proven technology across the board tends to have negative side effects on personnel performance.

"Perhaps after this mission you should familiarize S6 and it's operations with a standard Delta Force loadout to prevent this happening in the future. What if one the S6 has to use our equipment or we had to try and use S6 equipment? That would be a real slow down. Understood?" Aidan replied. It wasn't a suggestion..(edited)

Sophie nodded in agreement. "With that since it seemed there were no  other questions dismissed." She then heads out and Remi tries to hurriedly leave the room too.

Since it appeared that the meeting was over, Drass stood and headed for the door. He needed to sort his gear for the mission.

Sarissa waited for the traffic through the door to diminish before heading to sickbay. She'd already VX'd the staff with list of gear to compile.

Seleni quietly leaves to go prepare and ready her gear for the upcoming mission

Kessler: then I will endeavor to make sure your people are trained in our gear as well sir.
Kessler gets up and leaves, already having everything packed in a locker.

Flan heads out to grab her tools and electronic readers for on site maintainance, as the arsenal for high powered  pistols for light load, but decent protection

Kessler suits up and grabs his crate before heading to the shuttle.
Drass grabs his gear and swings by Scott's lab for extra munitions before heading to the shuttle. Twelve hours cooped up in a tin can wasn't a very appealing prospect, but he'd endured worse.
